3 Tips To Remember When Shopping For Maternity Dresses

How To Shop For Clothes During Pregnancy

An expanding belly and weight gain are some of the most obvious changes during pregnancy. To accommodate your growing body, you will have to overhaul your wardrobe. While initially, you may get away with wearing your existing clothes, as the months pass, your tight bras and underpants will make you uncomfortable and irritable.

If you are planning to shop for maternity dresses, here are a few things to keep in mind:

  1. Buying A Bra:

Buy a bra that’s designed to provide comfort and the necessary support during pregnancy and while nursing. Fashion bras in a bigger size may look good and even support an enlarged breast, but they’re not designed for comfort. Buy enough bras, but not too many because you will need a new one during the second and third trimester.

Use a measuring tape to measure your body just around the arms to measure the band size; if the measurement is in decimals, round it to the next number.  To measure cup size, place the measuring tape around the fullest part of the bust.

The breast must be covered completely with nothing spilling out while the band must be even all the way around and not ride up in the back.

  1. Buying A Panty:

Just because your belly is growing, you don’t have to replace your sexy underwear with granny panties. Of course, they are comfortable and don’t roll up, but there are plenty of other options to choose from. As with bras, don’t just buy one set of panties. You will need enough in the coming months.

Do not continue wearing tight panties – it could lead to urinary infections. As for the shape, there’s not much difference between a high waist or a low waist panty. Buy a panty that’s comfortable for you.

Choose breathable fabrics to avoid fungal infections that are common during pregnancy. But don’t go overboard on the price, because you will likely get out of this size very soon,
